Your Role: Own the Challenge

The Communications Manager at B&R, the Machine Automation Division of the ABB Group, is globally responsible for all internal and external communication activities, ensuring that the company's market leadership is clearly communicated. This global leadership role involves developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with business objectives. The role requires close collaboration with R&D and Sales to design targeted, multi-channel communication initiatives. Key areas include thought leadership, external media relations, internal change communication, trade shows, and event communication. Additionally, the role involves creating and localizing relevant content, strategically managing media relations, and measuring the success of communication efforts through KPIs. Coordination with ABB's central communication teams and alignment of local communication efforts on a global scale are also critical responsibilities. The current responsibility covers a total of five people, with the position "MR, PR and PA" also still open. Thus, the position will be responsible for at least six people.

Your primary workplace can be chosen flexibly within a radius of 300 km around Eggelsberg (e.g. Munich, Regensburg, etc.). Regular presence of approximately 50% at our headquarters in Eggelsberg is expected.

• Strategic Communication Planning & Advisory: Develop and execute a 360° communication strategy to strengthen B&R's positioning, covering thought leadership, executive speaking engagements, internal change communication, and media relations. Align closely with ABB's broader communications strategy to ensure message consistency and impact. Oversee crisis communication planning and response at a global level.
• Customer-Centric Communication & Content Creation: Work closely with Marketing & Sales to implement targeted communication initiatives across digital channels, trade shows, and press & PR. Develop localized content while ensuring high-profile media placements across print, broadcast, and online media. Create and distribute press releases, speeches for senior executives, and content that enhances brand reputation. Plan and execute global and regional press events, including digital, hybrid, and in-person formats.
• Executional Excellence & Performance Measurement: Ensure high-quality execution of all communication initiatives in alignment with brand guidelines. Monitor and analyze media coverage, providing insights for continuous improvement. Measure success through KPIs to track ROI. Support strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising initiatives to drive B&R's business growth.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Lead and develop the global communications team while coordinating local communication efforts worldwide. Build a content repository, share best practices, and align closely with ABB's central teams and other ABB Communications divisions. Foster strong relationships with media and industry influencers while acting as a spokesperson for B&R. Provide media training for senior executives and support leadership communication internally.

What it takes to Run what runs the world

• Master's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or related field.
• 12+ years of international public relations experience, preferably a mix of corporate/agency experience in a technology-focused industry, including leadership experience.
• Proven expertise in designing and executing successful media campaigns at various scales.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German (C2 proficiency).
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with experience as a company spokesperson.
• Proficient in social media management, digital content creation, and event planning.
• Knowledgeable in digital media tools and project management.
• Able to work effectively in a matrixed, global organization, with cross-functional and intercultural collaboration skills.
• Strong business acumen, adaptable to fast-paced environments with changing priorities.

In accordance with the collective agreement for the electrical and electronics industry in Austria, the minimum salary for this position is EUR 4,762.59 gross per month as of May 2025. There is a clear willingness to offer compensation above the collectively agreed minimum salary, depending on qualifications and experience.
